Brief Volunteer Scheme From Home and Abroad.
On 1st May 2012 (Workers Day), the author launched Brief Volunteer Scheme Project. The idea is to encourage Nigerian employers to consider recruiting volunteer staffs, the unemployed/under employed Nigerians to consider taking up volunteer jobs/positions in Nigeria. Employers, employees and the economy will greatly benefit from this scheme. The author would wish to extend this call to Nigerians in Diaspora to consider volunteering from their various locations in abroad to projects in Nigeria. This is with a view to help grow the local/state/national economy. Over 70,000 volunteers participated in the just concluded London 2012 Olympic Games, making it a massive success. In 2010, more than 13 million Canadians did volunteer jobs in Canada. Same or more can be replicated in Nigeria, considering that over 60 million Nigerians are unemployed. Definitely, there are abundant manpower resources waiting to be tapped. Therefore, let’s start volunteering.
