Emeka Ihedioha’s Campaign Council: Count Me Out – Samdaddy.
The attention of the office of Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been drawn to the release of the list of PDP campaign council for Hon Emeka Ihedioha’s governorship ambition listing the name of Sen Samuel Anyanwu and other prominent members of Divine Mandate Movement as members of the campaign council.
We view this act of desperation not only as an affront on the collective sensibilities of the Divine Mandate Movement but also as a calculated plan to divert the attention, as well as deceive the public on the true position of things in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Imo State, especially as it concerns the party’s governorship primaries.
Our position is heightened by the fact that neither Sen. Anyanwu nor the Divine Mandate Movement was contacted before the list was made public. This is not only against the spirit of courtesy but smarcks of insincerity and double standard.
For the records, Distinguished Sen. Samuel Anyanwu is a key member of the Abubakar Atiku/ Peter Obi presidential campaign organization, and was duly consulted before his name was included. He has since been playing his role well enough to ensure that the electorates of Nigeria, especially those in Imo State get “atikulated” which will ultimately transform to a landslide victory for Atiku/Obi in the presidential election come February 16th, 2019.
Curiously, this was not the case in the State as the Distinguished Senator’s opinion was not sought neither was he informed before the release of the purported list of the campaign council. It becomes more preposterous and worrisome when we recall that Sen. Samuel Anyanwu still remains the highest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) political office holder in the State, and should have expectedly been accorded that regard.
Again, we wonder why Sen. Anyanwu should be co-opted into the Ihedioha Campaign team when he still has a pending legal suit against Ihedioha. It might interest the general public to know that the position of Sen. Samuel Anyanwu and that of his campaign organization, Divine Mandate Movement on the October 1st, 2018 PDP governorship primaries in the State is still sacrosanct.
Our take is that the said primaries was fraught with irregularities and was no where close to acceptable standards, thus the legal suit challenging the outcome. We cannot therefore be in court challenging the outcome that produced a candidate and at the same time be campaigning for the same candidate.
Consequently, we wish to advice that the PDP in the State should withdraw the name of Sen. Anyanwu from the said campaign council list, even as we await the outcome of the legal suit that challenged the PDP governorship primaries in the State.
We wish to also advise the general public and particularly the teeming members and supporters of the Divine Mandate Movement to disregard this misadventure for what it is and what it seeks to achieve.
